Residents stranded outside UAE can return to UAE from July 12

Identity and Citizenship (ICA) UAE residents outside the country who wish to return to register for the ‘Residents' Entry Permit’ service at the authority website, smartservices.ica.gov.ae.

Upon entering an email address at the ICA Smart Services System site, it automatically sends back a registration verification email to complete the procedures.

On clicking “complete registration”, it redirects to the user to the ICA website where it reads: “Your email has been verified. Please press below button to complete your registration".

Make sure you do not book flights without receiving an approval from the concerned authorities. As approvals may take time, it is best to book tickets once you receive an approval number. 

The entry for your name in Arabic will automatically be filled in as long as you have provided the correct information earlier.

Attach documents
You need to have digital copies of your passport and visa copy, your passport sized photograph and proof of your visit outside the UAE. 

If your application gets stuck due to a glitch, refresh the application using the draft number you will receive.

There are no fees charged for this application. 

Once you have completed your application, you will receive a tracking number. You simply need to wait for your approval to come through.

When can I fly back to the UAE? Flights have resumed limited operations. 

Returning expats have to enter the UAE within 21 days of the date of approval. 

ICA will mail you the status
After verifying your current position and visa status, they will inform you by mail if your request has been approved or not.
