Dubai: Marriage Licences for Non-Muslims Can be Obtained in 24 Hours

 Non-Muslim couples in Dubai can now obtain their civil wedding licenses within just 24 hours, thanks to a new federal decree-law that took effect on February 1, 2023.

The present Federal Personal Status Law, addresses marriage, divorce, and inheritance matters for non-Muslim citizens and expatriates living in the UAE. This law outlines the requirements for marriage, as well as the processes for contracting and officially recording the marriage in court. It also details the procedures for initiating divorce, whether by mutual consent or unilaterally. Additionally, the law regulates the settlement of financial claims following a divorce and the arrangement of joint custody for children. It also establishes guidelines for inheritance, wills, and paternity verification.

The Conditions :
  •  Both spouses must be non-Muslims.
  •  Each must be at least 21 years old.
  •  At least one party must have a residence in Dubai.
  •  They must provide proof of being unmarried.
  •  They must either be present in person or have a representative on their behalf.
