One More Year Without an Office: Abu Dhabi Offers New Relief to Tajer Licence Holders

Existing licence holders whose office-free period expires this year can continue operating without a physical office for another year

Abu Dhabi: Existing businesses operating under the Tajer Abu Dhabi licence have been granted a new concession that allows them to continue their operations without taking a physical office. Licence holders whose current office-free period expires this year can continue their business for one additional year without renting or providing office premises.

The Tajer Abu Dhabi licence covers more than 1,200 business activities, including small-scale trading, various services and online businesses. Under the existing rules, new Tajer licence holders can operate without a physical office for the first three years. This helps new entrepreneurs reduce initial costs by avoiding office rent and related expenses when starting their businesses.

Demand for Tajer licences has also been increasing. The number of new Tajer Abu Dhabi licences rose by 24% in 2025, while registrations increased by a further 8% during the first half of 2026. The additional one-year concession applies specifically to existing Tajer licence holders whose current office-free period expires during 2026.
