Forgot to tap your nol card when getting off the Metro? You may be able to get the extra fare refunded

If you were charged an extra fare because you ended your journey without checking out, you can apply for a refund through the RTA’s nol Pay app.

If you forget to tap your nol card to check out after travelling on the Dubai Metro, bus or tram, you may sometimes be charged more than the normal fare. In such cases, you can use the Overcharge Refund Request service on the nol Pay app to request a refund of the excess amount.

Important points:

* The request must be submitted within 5 days of the travel date.

* The service is available for Metro, bus and tram journeys.

* Silver nol Card — refund of up to AED 4.50

* Gold nol Card — refund of up to AED 9

* People of Determination, Senior Emiratis and Residents, and Students cards — refund of up to AED 2.25

* No fee is charged for submitting the request.

* RTA may take up to 7 working days to review and process the refund.

Refunds are subject to RTA’s verification and approval.
