The new requirements aim to ensure the safety of animals and maintain cleanliness in cities. Under the rules, pet owners must register their animals with the municipality’s veterinary services and obtain the necessary licence. Microchipping is also mandatory for all dogs and cats.

Pet owners must ensure that their animals receive their required annual vaccinations on time. Once registration is completed, owners will receive a plastic identification tag containing a registration number. This tag must be attached to the pet’s collar at all times. The microchip and registration tag can help authorities identify and locate pets if they go missing.

Those bringing pets into the UAE from India or other countries must also comply with the regulations. Pets must have microchips that meet international ISO standards, along with updated vaccination certificates. Owners should ensure that all these requirements are fulfilled before bringing their pets into the country.
