Dubai Considers Underground Transport Network

3D transport system planned to move passengers and goods more efficiently

Dubai: Dubai is considering developing an advanced underground transport network as part of its future transport plans, alongside existing road and air transport systems. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is exploring a three-dimensional transport model aimed at moving passengers and goods faster and more efficiently. The proposed approach would integrate roads, public transport, air mobility and underground transport systems.

The plan is being considered in response to the city’s growing population and rapidly expanding commercial activities. Moving major transport operations through underground tunnels could help reduce pressure on busy roads and ease congestion in key areas. It could also provide an alternative route for freight movement, helping make the delivery and distribution of goods faster and more efficient.

Dubai’s long-term transport planning focuses on creating better coordination between roads, public transport, air mobility and underground systems. However, no final details have been announced yet regarding the construction, cost, timeline or specific routes of the proposed underground network. The initiative is being viewed as a major concept that could give a new direction to Dubai’s future urban development.
