Sheikh Mohammed shares seven principles for life in Dubai

Strong values, not towering buildings, are the true foundation of a society, says Dubai’s Ruler

Dubai:UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has shared seven key values that citizens, residents and visitors should follow in their daily lives. The principles were presented as part of his message titled “A Letter to the Dubai Community”, aimed at preserving Dubai’s achievements and values for future generations. The message is included in his latest book, The Letters. Sheikh Mohammed says life is a responsibility, and a sense of responsibility gives life its true meaning. Employees, leaders and parents should all remain committed to society. Respecting human dignity and recognising the value of every individual is the second principle. True coexistence is possible when people respect different cultures, religions and feelings.

The third principle is to maintain excellence and accuracy in everything we do. Dedication and commitment to one’s work contribute to the progress and reputation of a nation. Humility is the fourth principle. Sheikh Mohammed recalled that Dubai began with limited resources and stressed the importance of remaining humble towards knowledge and people. Hope and optimism form the fifth principle. People should have the determination to turn challenges into opportunities and make what seems impossible possible.

Doing good and helping others is the sixth principle. Even a smile, a kind word or helping someone overcome an obstacle can be a meaningful act of kindness, Sheikh Mohammed said. Loyalty and sincerity towards the country are the seventh and final principle. He stressed the importance of remaining faithful to the nation that embraces its people, obeying its laws and taking pride in the country’s achievements and flag.
