What is gold card?
The gold card represents the UAE’s permanent residency scheme that was announced in May. Recipients who are handed a gold card will have a permanent residency status in the UAE. Benefits of the gold card also extend to the gold cardholder’s family.

 The Gold Card allows its holders and their immediate family members (wife and children) to reside in the UAE without the need for a sponsor.
It also allows the holders to get visas for one of their senior employees (advisor or executive director along with their family members). They can also sponsor up to three domestic workers.

 Gold Card covers three categories of 10 and five-year residency visas.
After 10 years they are continuous for another 10 year period. Every 10 years, there are medical insurance and other procedures that need to be done in between but it comes without any extra conditions.
If investors decreased in worth or their business failed within those 10 years, things would be looked at on a case to case basis.
There is no minimum requirement stay inside the UAE, so if the visa holder left the country for longer than six months, their visa would still be valid.

 There is no age restriction. 

 Who qualifies?
According to the UAE government, 6,800 residents have already been identified to receive their gold card. In total, their investments in the UAE total to around Dh100 billion. Candidates who qualify for the gold card include business leaders, investors, specialised professionals, researchers and outstanding students.

 Within the special talents section of the 10-year visa, Executive Directors with a Bachelors Degree, five years experience in the UAE and a salary of Dh30,000 a month could also now apply.

 Long-term visas

 Not to be confused with the permanent visa programme, the UAE has also introduced 10 and 5-year visa schemes respectively. Unlike the gold card visa, these visa programmes are not permanent ones, but they still provide residents with a long-term residency status in the UAE that can be renewed.

 The first batch of beneficiaries will include 6,800 investors whose total investments exceed Dh100 billion.

 The permanent residency visa programme is just one of many long-term visa schemes that have been announced 1n 2019. Others include 10 and 5-year visa programmes split into several different categories

 To qualify for the 10-year visa, investors must have a public investment of not less than Dh10 million. For the five-year visa, an investor’s total investment in real estate should not be less than Dh5 million. And as with the permanent residency scheme, the benefits of the 10 and 5-year visa programmes can also be used to sponsor one’s family and also be renewed.
As well as business leaders and investors, the 10-year visa programme is also opened for scientists and researchers, with 20 scientists having received the 10-year visa in January. Entrepreneurs and outstanding students may also apply for the 5-year visa plan. The decision allows investors to enter the country on a six-month multiple entry visa. 

 Long-term visa categories
INVESTORS - 10 YEAR VISA
Conditions:
■ Public investment via deposit or company (not less than Dh10 million)
■ Non-real estate investments shouldn’t be less than 60 per cent of total investments

 ■ Investor should hold full ownership – not loan. Or he can prove that he reserves rights of investments for three years as minimum.

 ■ Asset should not be encumbered by claims that impair the appropriateness of the financial value of Dh10 million

 Benefits:

 ■ 10-year visa is renewable

 ■ Possibilities of having partners with a condition that each partner should invest Dh10 million

 ■ Visa for spouse and children for 10 years

 ■ 10-year visa for one executive director and one advisor

 ■ Six month validity entry visa with permits for multiple travels

 REAL ESTATE INVESTORS - 5 YEAR VISA
Conditions:

 ■ Total investment in real estate should not be less than Dh5 million

 ■ Investor should hold ful lownership – not loan. Or he can prove that he reserves rights of investments for three years as minimum

 ■ Financial asset should not be encumbered by claims that impair the appropriateness of the financial value

 Benefits:

 ■ Five year renewable residency visa

 ■ Five year visa for spouse and children

 ■ Five year visa for one executive director and one advisor

 ■ Six month validity entry visa with permits for multiple travels

 ENTREPRENEURS - 5 YEAR VISA
Conditions:

 ■ Owning a project with a value of not less than Dh500,000 with accreditation certicates from the government

 Benefits:

 ■ Five year visa, which can be upgraded to investors visa

 ■ Five year visa for spouse and children

 ■ Six month validity entry visa with permits for multipletravels. This also can be extended for another six months

 ■ Five year visa for three executive directors.

 RESEARCHERS/SCIENTISTS, DOCTORS, INNOVATORS - 10 YEAR VISA
Conditions:

 ■ Existence of a valid work contract and with specialisation in fields that are prioritised in the country

 Benefits:

 ■ 10 year renewable visa

 ■ 10 year visa for spouse and children

 OUTSTANDING STUDENTS - 5 YEAR VISA
Conditions:

 ■ Student should have at least 95 per cent in secondary school with a distinction of 3.75 GPA upon graduation from any university

 Benefits:
■ Five year renewable visa

 ■ Five year renewable visa for his family
