New expat family sponsorship rule in UAE

Now any resident in the country earning Dh4,000 without accommodation or Dh3,000 with company-provided accommodation can sponsor his family in the UAE. Income, not profession is the sole criteria for sponsoring family members.

The rule permits a foreigner who is residing in the country, whether male or female, to bring family members (spouse and children under the age of 18 or unmarried daughters) to stay in the UAE, provided the family income (husband and wife) or one of them is Dh3,000 with company provided accommodation, or Dh4,000 without housing conditions.
The amended provisions indicate “income” as a requirement for sponsoring family members, as opposed to the previously listed “professions” which allowed workers to sponsor their families. read more

Delivery/Birth in Dubai

The hospital your baby is delivered in will issue a Birth Notification. Take this paper along with the following documents to Al Baraha Hospital to get Birth Certificate and attestation. + To apply birth certificate through online; call

Documents Required for Birth Certificate:

+ Birth Notification issued by the hospital
+ Original & copy of parents' passports with residence permits
+ Attested marriage certificate

Time: 2-3 working days

Procedure:
+ Some public hospitals such as Dubai Hospital (04-7075805), Rashid Hospital (04-3371111) and Al Wasl Hospital (04-3241111) have a counter which will issue the Arabic birth certificate. Go there and hand over the documents and receive the Arabic birth certificate immediately.

+ For an English birth certificate, go to Preventive Medicine Department at Al Baraha Hospital (also known as Kuwaiti Hospital 04-2710000).

+ Get an application form from the Birth Certificate Office. A translator will type your application at the hospital. You can get it attested at the Ministry of Health Counter at Al Baraha Hospital itself.

+ Take the documents to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for attestation and Pay Dh155.

After the birth of your child, do not rush to get the birth certificate. Wait till your wife and child have been discharged from the hospital and you have had a few days' time to finalize a name for your child, before you proceed to get the birth certificate. However, do keep in mind that the maximum period to register your child's birth is 30 days.

You must have a valid health card in order to deliver in a public hospital. Please carry your original marriage certificate & passports with you.

Different Types of UAE Visas

Whether you want to work or simply visit the UAE, several visas are available that can suit your travel plans. While the country issues many other kinds of visas, Below are five visas one can use to enter the UAE.

 Tourist visa
Tourist visa is used by travellers whose purpose in the country is for tourism. The visa permits the holder to stay in the country for 30 days or 90 days. To get one, you'll need sponsorship by a UAE airline, hotel and tour operators. Each UAE airline offers visa services when you fly with them.  Visit visa
You'll need a friend or relative residing in the country to sponsor your UAE visit visa. They can apply for your visa at any GDRFA office across the emirate and the process takes one or two days. After the visa is issued, you will get the visa through E-mail. read more

 Transit visa
Have a connecting flight with a lengthy stopover? If you're just passing by, UAE airlines also issue transit visas valid for those whose stopover exceeds 8 hours. Passengers with transit visas must leave the country within 96 hours of arrival. If you have a shorter transit time, UAE started exemption of transit passengers from all entry fees for first 48 hours. read more

 Employment visa
An employment visa, also known as a work permit, is issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. Entry Permit is valid for two months from the date of issue and after entry, you should do Medical, Emirates ID, Health Insurance, Labour Contract and stamp the visa on the passport. This is visa is valid for two years. read more

 Residence visa
The residence visa is the next step after securing an employment visa. Think of it as an evolution of the latter. To secure this, you'll need to get a medical test and apply for another document - the Emirates ID. The UAE Resident Identity Card certifies that the holder is a valid UAE resident. After the whole process is complete, you can now sponsor your family members and bring them into the country as well. read more

Family Visa Stamping (after entry)-Dubai

New Residence Visa Stamping for an expatriate family (wife & children)

 + No need to visit Immigration Department to submit visa application.
 
 - Customer will receive SMS from Immigration in case of approval 
    or modification. 
 
 - All fees and fine should be paid through typing centre only.
 
 Below mentioned documents are required in original for scanning at the typing     centre.

 + Entry permit (e-visa) of each sponsored person.

 + Original passport of each sponsored person.

 + Medical Certificate (for those who are above 18 years old).

 + Emirates ID application

 + Sponsor's original Emirates ID.
 
 + IBAN (International Bank Account Number) of the Sponsor (applicant).

 FEES:
 Dh360 for 1 years (Typing charge extra)
 Dh460 for 2 years (Typing charge extra).
 Dh460 for 2 years (Typing charge extra). If the sponsor is Partner or Investor.

 STEPS TO FOLLOW:
 + Type Medical & ID application and go for Medical first, then do fingerprint at EIDA Centre near Medical Clinic (AL Nahda, Al Baraha, Sonapur, Al Qouze). No need appointment for Medical.

 +After receiving Medical Report, submit visa stamping application through AMER      Centre or Typing centre.
 
 +After submission of online application, you will receive Approved message             through SMS within 48 hours.

 •Normal Application: Write Airway Bill Number on the Submission Receipt;          Take it along with original passport to ZAJEL Courier office at Deira Main Post        Office, behind MAX, Hamriya. You can collect visa stamped passport from the        same office after two days.
 
 If you are far from Deira, you can call ZAJEL Courier on 800 21111 to     pick your dependents' passport from your office/residence and deliver   back the passport after stamping visa.


FINE: Visa to be stamped within 60 days from the date of Entry/Status  Change. If Late Dh50 fine per day to be paid at typing centre.

Immigration Timing: Sunday to Thursday (7:30am to 8pm)
