Can I work legally on a visit visa in UAE ?

In the UAE, it is illegal to work without a valid work permit and residency visa. As per Article 6(1) of Federal Decree Law No. 33 of 2021, individuals cannot work or be employed without a work permit issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE). Additionally, Article 5(4) of Federal Decree Law No. 29 of 2021 forbids expatriates from working without both a valid work permit and residency visa.

Employers and employees must secure the appropriate work permit before starting any job, whether it is full-time, part-time, temporary, or freelance, as specified in Article 6 of Cabinet Resolution No. 1 of 2022.

Working without the required permit can result in serious consequences for both parties. Employers may face fines ranging from AED 100,000 to AED 1,000,000 for hiring someone without the necessary work authorization and visa.

Therefore, it is essential not to start working on a visit visa. Your employer must obtain a valid work permit and UAE residency visa before you begin employment.
