The resident expatriate holding a valid residence visa from the UAE and wishing to travel abroad for any reason, must not stay outside the UAE for more than six months, otherwise his residence visa will be invalidated, and at this stage, he will not be able to Entering the UAE, unless after applying for a new entry permit. However, 6 exceptions that allow those who have residency in the country to stay abroad for more than that specified period.
These exceptions to the aforementioned rule allow the resident expatriate to stay outside the UAE for more than six months, while maintaining the validity of his residence visa in the country.
And it indicated that those exceptions are as follows:
“Firstly” the foreign wife who is sponsored by her Emirati husband, and “Secondly” the resident expatriate who works in a government agency and its facilities and is sent abroad for treatment by the government administration. In this case, a medical report approved by the Ministry of Health and Prevention must be submitted. The community, or other approved health authorities, and “third” the domestic labor accompanying the student studying, or the person receiving treatment abroad.
And “fourth” domestic workers accompanying members of diplomatic and consular missions who represent the UAE abroad, and employees of these missions who hold a residence visa in the UAE, and “fifth” public sector employees who are sent by the entity to attend training or specialized courses, or workers In the offices of employers abroad and their families who hold valid residence visas in the UAE, and “sixth” the student residing in the UAE, who travels abroad to study at a university (according to the provisions of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai).
