Students dependent on their parents after Grade 12 and those who have finished their university studies can get a one-year extension of their residence visa twice.
The dependent students will be granted residence visa for one year which can be renewed for an additional year, starting from the date of graduating from the university or after obtaining the high school certificate.
Students applying for this visa should submit their attested academic certificates for high school or university and other supporting documents that show that they have studied in the UAE or have obtained education certificates outside the country.
Girls: Under the UAE law, all females are able to reside in the country under their parent's visa until they are married, in which they will have to be sponsored by either their husband or employee.
A financial guarantee of Dh5,000, which is deposited by the parent for obtaining the residence visa of the child above 18 will be required for the extension of the student's visa and will be refunded after they change their visa status.

Visit visa extension
Visit visa holders will be able to apply for 30-day extensions twice without having to leave the country. A Dh600 fee is applicable for each extension. Previously, visitors had to leave the UAE after the expiry of their three-month visit visas or one-month tourist visas. The visit and tourist visas have to be extended through travel agents.
Expatriates living in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and those accompanying citizens of Gulf countries do not qualify.
Special entry permits and 96-hour special mission entry visas are not included.
FINE: Dh100 per day fine for violators which will take effect ten days after visa expiry.
New reforms to the UAE visa system that will benefit families, residents and visitors, started to implement across the country with effect from October 21, 2018.
Visa for divorcees, widows and their children
A one-year extension of residency visa for widows and divorced women and their children, This category of beneficiaries starts from the date of the divorce or death of the spouse. They won't need a sponsor to apply for the visa.
Fees: Dh360 for one-year residency visa; Dh155 to cancel previous visa.
Terms and Conditions
The application for extension is subject to conditions and regulations. For example, the applicant should have the residency visa sponsored by the deceased or former husband at the time of death or divorce.
The residency visa should also be valid at the time of death or divorce, and the children’s residency period does not exceed that of the mother.
There should also be proof that the woman has been divorced or widowed, and that she has a residence and the financial ability to provide for the family.
Application can be submitted through Amer Business Centers or Tasheel centres across Dubai.
