Can I complete the services during COVID-19 related restrictions?
According to Smart Dubai, people can still visit the UAE PASS kiosks to complete their registration process. However, people are advised to stay home as much as possible and step out only for essential services. Additionally, authorities have urged every individual to follow the necessary precautions when stepping out, stressing on the message of 'Everyone is responsible'.

Which services can I access now?

Once you download and register, you will be able to access over 5,000 different services, including paying your government bils, registering a business, filing a complaint or sponsoring a visa.
---------------------------
UAE PASS will be the only digital identity needed to access Dubai Government services.
The UAE PASS is the latest step in the country’s digital transformation and provides UAE citizens, residents and visitors an easy way manage their government-related work without the need to go anywhere.
UAE PASS eliminates the need to physically visit customer service centres and submit paper identification documents to access Dubai Government services.

No more paper identities

UAE PASS eliminates the need to physically visit customer service centres and submit paper identification documents. It provides an authorised digital ID through smartphones, and includes a digital signature feature allowing users to sign official documents. Users can access more than 5,000 government services by using a single username and password.

Easy access to government services
The application allows easy access to all digital government services in Dubai and various federal and local services across the UAE – available on the websites and mobile applications of over 80 government and private entities – and accessible through a single set of login credentials. The authorised digital signature feature, meanwhile, allows users to sign government transactions or documents; verify their authenticity; share them with the competent authorities, in line with UAE legislation; and request and share data with service providers online.

What is the UAEPASS?
The UAEPASS was launched in 2018 as part of the UAE government’s long-term strategies – UAE Vision 2021 and UAE Centennial 2071.

UAE Vision 2021 aims to make the UAE among the best countries in the world by the Golden Jubilee of the Union on six basic pillars. One of the six pillars, or national priorities, is providing sustainable environment and infrastructure.

DubaiID, SmartPass and UAE PASS – what is the difference?
DubaiID, as the name suggests, is exclusive for Dubai government related services. For Abu Dhabi and other emirates, residents could register for a Smart Pass. However, the UAE’s move towards providing smart government services has led to the unification of these services under UAE PASS, which provides access to a range of government related services, regardless of the Emirate you are in.
The UAEPASS is a collaboration between Smart Dubai, Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) and Abu Dhabi Digital Authority and was launched in 2018.

The UAEPASS allows UAE residents and visitors to access government services and make regular payments, like your home and mobile phone bills, it provides access to services like DubaiNow and even legal processes like applying for your residence visa or buying a property. This is possible using the electronic signature.

Electronic signature
One of the biggest features of the UAEPASS is that it provides users with an electronic signature, which is equivalent to you signing a documents with a pen. Your electronic signature will be legally valid under UAE law. So, whether you are securing a new contract or making a big purchase, like a property or car, if you are using the UAE government’s smart services, you can use your UAEPASS signature. This is the first time digital signature solutions have been provided in the region.

How secure is my signature?
The UAEPASS signature and the online services are secured through various measures to provide a safe operating environment for users. Digital signatures are protected using the SHA-256 hashing algorithm.

WHAT IS SHA-256?
SHA stands for Standard Hashing Algorithm, which was built by the National Security Agency (NSA) in the US. SHA-256 is a ‘one-way cryptographic function’ which means that it cannot be decrypted back to the original text.
What documents will I need?
You will only need your original Emirates ID.

Can I do it online?
The first part of the registration is online, by downloading the UAEPASS app, but you will need to visit a kiosk for the final physical verification.

Where do I go?
Here is a breakdown of the complete registration process.

1. Download the UAE PASS application on your phone.

2. Scan your Emirates ID, verify the information required from you and set up a pin. This pin number is extremely important, and you are advised never to share it with anyone.

4. Insert your Emirates ID at the self-service machine and follow the instructions on the screen.

If you download the DubaiNow app, you can access Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), Federal Electricity and Water Authority (Fewa), Dubai Police and many other government services. You can even get a business licence in 15 minutes, using the ‘Start your Business’ service.

Drive-through: Can anyone get tested?

However, health authorities are giving priority to testing the following people:

• are showing symptoms linked to COVID-19 (dry cough, fever or shortness of breath).

• have had close contact with a confirmed or suspected COVID-19 case, or a travel history within the last 14 days.

• are in the particularly vulnerable groups, which include pregnant women, people above the age of 65, or those with comorbidities such as hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, or those with a compromised immune system such as cancer, a history of taking immunosuppressants or severe acute respiratory illness.

Also, it is important to note that if you are asymptomatic, and want to get the test done without a doctor’s approval, your insurance would not cover the cost of the test.

For this, you will need to tilt your head back, so that a sample can be taken from all the way back at the end of your nose.

While the procedure is not painful, it can cause discomfort.

Patients are then asked to return home and practise self-isolation or self-quarantine, depending on their specific situation.

When will I get the result?
Currently, it takes two to three days for the results to come in.

What do I do till then?
Until you receive your results, the person is advised to remain indoors and practise self-quarantine.

How will I get my result?
If your result is negative, you will receive a notification through an SMS or call from the relevant authority.

In case of a positive result, the authorities will contact the patient and recommend self-isolation at home or in the hospital, depending on the severity of the symptoms.

Contact tracing
Officials then conduct contact tracing, which means contacting all the people who may have come in close contact with the COVID-19 patient.

This is one of the many ways authorities ensure that the spread of the novel Coronavirus can be curbed.
