Leave before August 17 or face fines: Indian Embassy tells Indian expats

As per the waiver scheme, valid till August 17, 2020, overstayers can be permitted to leave the country without making any payment of fines for the period.

All such cases of Indian nationals are required to be approved by the competent UAE authorities and to be coordinated through the Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi (for people residing in Emirate of Abu Dhabi/visa issued from Abu Dhabi) and through Consulate General of India in Dubai (for people residing or visa issued from Dubai and Northern Emirates of Sharjah, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Qwain and Ajman).

Accordingly, all Indian nationals whose visas have expired before March 1, 2020 are advised to avail of this opportunity to leave the country without paying any fines till August 17, 2020.

HOW TO APPLY
For doing so, the concerned persons need to send an application including details of their passport, local contact/mobile number, email address and attach a visa copy with supporting documents to the missions.

It should be sent at least seven working days before the intended date of travel to India.

If people are not able to scan or send documents by email, they are advised to drop their applications in the format (attached) in the drop boxes outside Embassy/Consulate for this purpose.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
Copy of passport (first, last and visa page) and phone number are required. In case of visit visa, a copy of the visa should also be enclosed.

Any Indian national wish to avail this opportunity of waiver of visa fines, should also ensure that they are in possession of a valid travel document to travel to India (Passport). In case, they are not in possession of passport, they can approach the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Indian Consulate in Dubai for issuance of a passport/emergency certificate, as the case may be, before applying for the visa fine waiver.

It may be noted that once the Emergency Certificate (EC) is issued, the passport is automatically canceled in the system and cannot be used.

A person traveling on an Emergency Certificate would need to apply for a fresh passport only upon arrival in India.

The Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi and Consulate General of India in Dubai will ensure that these applications are forwarded to the concerned UAE authorities at the earliest possible for processing and will inform the concerned persons by phone/email once their request of waiver/visa fines are approved by the UAE authorities (for which they require at least five working days) after which they should leave the country at the earliest possible.

Mandatory COVID-19 PCR tests for all UAE airport arrivals

It is now mandatory to conduct a COVID-19 PCR test on everyone arriving through the country's airports, including citizens, residents, tourists and transit passengers, regardless of the country they are flying in from.

The PCR tests will be implemented, starting July 24, at all UAE airports.

They also need to ensure that residents have signed a Health Declaration Form.

The list of accredited centres is available on www.screening.purehealth.ae
For countries that do not have testing centres listed on the website, it is up to the airlines to ensure that the passenger has a negative PCR test result from approved centres.

Etihad airlines listed the Covid-19 PCR test result as a requirement for residents at check-in at the port of departure. "If there are no testing facilities at your point of departure, or you test positive, you will not be permitted to travel," the airline said on its website.

All UAE residents traveling to the European Union, Britain and any other countries that require a COVID-19 PCR test, have to take the test before they board the plane.

Children under 12 and children of determination are exempted from the laboratory test that is valid for 96 hours from the date of the test.

These new requirements apply to all airlines operating in the UAE.

Air India Express clarifies COVID-19 test requirement for children under 12 flying from India to UAE

Air India Express on Tuesday clarified that children under 12 years flying with the airline from India to the UAE are exempted from mandatory COVID-19 PCR test only if they are landing in Sharjah International Airport.

Only Sharjah had exempted children from the test.

A valid negative COVID–19 PCR test report from a government-approved laboratory for all passengers above 12 years old is applicable to passengers flying from India to Sharjah.

COVID-19 insurance is mandatory for UAE travel

Travel insurance is mandatory for tourists and visitors coming in to the UAE.
The insurance should cover COVID-19 related treatments.

How can you ensure that your travel insurance covers all the necessary health risks, including COVID-19?

Pandemics are standard exclusions in travel insurance policies.

You would need to ensure your policy expressly mentions COVID-19 or pandemics.

The policy should cover Emergency Medical Expenses.

If unclear, contact your insurance provider.

The table of benefits should also clearly state what you are covered for.

Keep your travel activities in mind when looking for coverage.

Try to select the highest level of cover within your budget.

Insurance providers are creating COVID-19 specific products.

The premium starts from Dh47+VAT for a trip up to 30 days and goes up to Dh200 + VAT for a six months trip.

The cover for medical expenses or COVID-19 is limited to a sum insured of Dh150,000.
