Ajman Free Zone’s Freelancer licence allows entrepreneurs to set up a company in the UAE
A freelancer licence allows you to set up a company within the free zone.
Along with the licence, entrepreneurs also get a supportive ecosystem to network and connect with other businesses.
Visa Options

Step 1: Submit the documents
- Valid passport copy.
- One passport size photograph.
- If the investor is currently a UAE resident, a visa copy and a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from current sponsor.
Step 2: Make the payment
- The payment can be made through the following methods:
- Online
- Cash payment at the AFZ office
- Cheque
- Bank Transfer
- The validity for the freelance licence and the visas differs.
- The freelancer licence needs to be renewed on a yearly basis, the visa has a validity of three years, and needs to be renewed accordingly.
Other benefits
The licence also allows you to easily set up a business banking account, along with networking options like a business hub, co-working spaces, meeting rooms and lounges.
In the UAE, you have the option to set up a company in the mainland or a free zone. Regulations surrounding the company can differ based on jurisdiction. Mainland businesses are regulated by the Economic Department of each emirate.
While free zone companies have their business operations regulated by free zone authorities.
A free zone, also known as a free trade zone, is a special economic zone where companies can operate and receive considerable tax and fee exemptions. No need local sponsor or partner. Expatriate residents can have 100 per cent of company ownership.
Companies within free zones are treated as offshore companies and therefore do not need to engage with the customs authorities or Ministry of Economy. Some free zones also offer long-term leasing options of up to 25 years.
Dealing with companies outside the free zone can be done only thorugh registered distributors.
