Al Hosn UAE App; Official Digital Platform for Coronavirus Tests

It's mandatory to download this App by all residents and Visitors.
It alerts users if they have been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 patient.
If you have taken a COVID-19 test, you can get the result through the app as well.

The app was launched by the UAE's health authorities.
The app traces a person's connection with others, through Bluetooth technology, while ensuring anonymity and safety.

It uses bluetooth signals to inform users if they are in close proximity with people who have had contact with COVID-19 positive cases as well.

By contact tracing at a mass level, the app will help the UAE's community curb the spread of the virus.

This can be only done if the other individuals, too, have the App downloaded. This is why the authorities urged people to download the App and ask their friends and family to do so as well.

The more people download the app, the more effective it will be.

Alhosn for All’ also can be used to retrieve Covid-19 test results.

2. How does Alhosn protect me?
The app will help you to:
 Protect yourself: Alhosn helps contact tracers notify you faster if you were in contact with someone who has COVID-19, advising you to be tested immediately.
 Protect your loved ones: being contacted earlier allows you to better protect those around you, reducing the spread of the virus.
 Protect your community: Alhosn makes it easier to complete contact tracing on a national level, containing the spread faster, and protecting the wider community.

3. I have already downloaded CovidTrace and StayHome, do I need to download Alhosn as well?
Yes, please download and use Alhosn to receive your test results on COVID-19 to support the UAE health authorities in their contact tracing efforts.

4. Who should use Alhosn?
Everyone in the UAE should use the Alhosn app. The effectiveness of the app is based on nationwide use to ensure everyone is protected. In simple terms, the more people use the app, the safer everyone will be.

5. What is contact tracing?
Contact tracing is a method used to effectively control infectious disease outbreaks globally. It is based on identifying people who have been in close proximity to others that are infected, and then contacting
them so they can be tested by the relevant health authority. Technology has made this laborious
process faster and simpler.
6. How does Alhosn use contact tracing?
Alhosn uses Bluetooth technology to record and send signals to anyone nearby who also has the app
installed. These Bluetooth signals perform a digital “handshake” and exchange anonymous data and
timestamps between devices in proximity of one another with the app. The anonymous data is stored in
an encrypted form temporarily on the user’s phone and is deleted after three weeks. No personally
identifiable information is collected throughout the entire process.
If someone tested positive for COVID-19, the health authority will ask them for this list of anonymous
IDs and timestamps from the past 21 days for contact tracing. The health authority then analyses the
data and notify those who may be at risk.
3
7. What is the Alhosn COVID-19 health coding system?
The Alhosn health coding system involves the generation of a unique personal QR code and a colourcoding system that determines the status of your health in relation to COVID-19. The colours represent
the following:
 Grey: indicates you have no test results that are currently available
 Green: indicates you have been tested and you are healthy. This could grant you access to public
places in the future.
 Amber: indicates that you need to be tested or retested due to possible exposure to COVID-19
 Red: indicates your most recent test returned positive and you must seek the advice of the local
health authority.

Using Alhosn
1. Is it mandatory to download Alhosn?
No, it is not mandatory. But by using Alhosn, you can help stop the spread of COVID-19 and keep your
family, friends, and colleagues safe. Protecting yourself protects your community.
2. How do I install Alhosn?
You can download the Alhosn app from the App Store, Google Play Store, Huawei AppGallery and
Galaxy Store for free. You then register and authenticate by entering your Emirates ID and phone
number followed by the one-time password (OTP) sent to your phone. You will need to turn on
Bluetooth and push notifications on your smartphone to use the app.
An internet connection is required when you first install the Alhosn app. However, the app is whitelisted
by the telecom operators, and data used will not be counted against the user’s quota.
3. Can I see the test results of my dependents?
Yes. Within a family or household, parents and guardians can access the test results of dependents
within their household as long as their Emirates IDs are registered under the same mobile number.
Children, the elderly, and Persons of Determination should have accounts – everyone in the UAE should
have an account.
4. Is Alhosn available in more than one language?
Yes, the app is currently available in Arabic, English and Hindi. We will consider further languages as the
need arises.
5. Do I need to keep Bluetooth and my notification settings on after installation?
Yes, you need to keep your Bluetooth on at all times. Bluetooth is used to determine if you have been
near someone carrying COVID-19. It is the key technology element that will help protect you and your
family. If you turn off Bluetooth then you are disabling the app and taking an unnecessary risk.
6. Do I need to enable location permissions?
Yes, depending on your device. Some devices, for example Android devices, require the location
permission to be granted in order for the Alhosn app to access Bluetooth features.
4
7. How do I know if the app is working?
The easiest way to make sure the app is working is to keep the app running and check or refresh it from
time to time. If the app stops working for any reason you will receive a notification.
8. Do I need data or wi-fi to run the app?
Yes, although the app does not consume data under all circumstances, since it is whitelisted by the UAE
telecoms operators.
9. Do I need to keep the app running all the time?
Yes. For the contact tracing to work, and for your safety, please keep the app running in the
background at all times. Bluetooth and push notifications should always be kept on as well. The app
needs to remain open especially when you are outside your home and in public places.
10. Have you optimised the app to preserve battery life?
Yes, Alhosn uses marginal normal battery life similarly to any other app you may have on your phone. If
you usually have Bluetooth running on your phone, you will not notice any major difference to your
phone battery consumption.
11. How do I get my COVID-19 test results via Alhosn?
Once the tests results are made available by the health authority, they will be displayed immediately on
the Alhosn app.
12. Can I book a COVID-19 test through Alhosn?
No. Currently, Alhosn can only receive your test results.
13. Can I sync Alhosn with my smartwatch?
No, this function is not yet available.
14. Does Alhosn only work on Android and iOS devices?
Yes, the app has been designed to function on smartphones running on Android and iOS only.
15. I don’t have a smartphone. How can I use the app?
Unfortunately, the app only works on smartphones. We are considering other options such as
wristbands. Meanwhile, please follow the government’s guidelines on social distancing and hygiene.
16. Do I need an Emirates ID to use Alhosn?
Yes. The app currently requires a valid Emirates ID number to register. However, forthcoming updates
could enable alternatives such as a passport.
17. What happens if I change my phone?
If you change or lose your phone, you have to reinstall Alhosn on your new phone and register using
the same Emirates ID and phone number as before to retrieve your profile.
5
18. Can I get help if I have problems installing or using Alhosn?
Yes. Please call 800 HOSN (4676).
19. I have registered but I have not received the OTP. What should I do next?
If you do not receive the OTP, please wait for 10 minutes then try again. If after 10 minutes, you still
have not received the OTP then there may be a technical issue, which should be resolved in a few
hours. Please contact us if you require additional support.

How to cancel all your accounts before leaving the UAE?

How to cancel tenancy contract in UAE?
Make sure you plan your move around the time your lease ends. It is also required to inform your landlord in writing 90 days in advance that you will not be renewing your contract. If you break your lease early, you will need to pay at least a few months’ rent, depending on the clause in your tenancy contract. Speak to your landlord to ensure the contract ends in an amicable way.
In light of the impact COVID-19 has had on businesses, Dubai's Rental Dispute Centre issued a judgement allowing a person whose work contract was terminated to end their lease without the need to pay penalty.

Make sure you get back your security deposit. This will be done after the landlord or a company staff inspects the house for any damage. So, you need to ensure that you fix any aspects of the house you might have changed while living in it. If you have made any structural changes to the house, you may have to forfeit the security deposit.

Once you have informed the landlord and the lease has ended, make sure you take back any remaining rent cheques that you may have given the landlord.

To make sure the agency has cancelled the Ejari, or tenancy registration, ask the agency for a screenshot showing that your contract has been taken off the system.

How to sell your car in UAE?
Follow these simple steps when you plan to sell your car.

1. Take good pictures
If there is one thing you need to do to get a good price for your vehicle it is this. This means cleaning your car thoroughly. Give it to a nearby auto service for a professional job and take pictures during daylight. The lighting is best when pictures are taken during the ‘golden hour’ – the time shortly before sunset or after sunrise. That is when the light is softer and more diluted, providing the best setup for good pictures.

2. Specifications are key
You can ask for a better price for your car if you bought it brand new and have a full service history. Also, provide details about the car like the engine power, whether it is a mid-options model or a full-options one. A well-maintained car can easily get a good price in the UAE’s car market.

3. Advertise
There are several platforms that you can post your car’s pictures. Online ad markets, like www.getthat.comhttps://dubai.dubizzle.com let sellers post ads for no cost. You can also share the details on your social media channels or visit a used car market in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi or Ajman. If you have only driven the car for a few years and bought it from an authorised dealer, approach their pre-owned cars department.

4. Leave some time for the sale
If you leave this part of the relocation to the last minute, you are bound to accept any offer you get. Give yourself a month at least to be able to say 'no' to the bad offers and wait for the best price.
5. Clear the dues
Apart from the car loan, you will need to make any payments related to Salik or road and traffic fines before you can transfer the car ownership.

6. Making the sale
Once you have found a buyer, you might need to ask for some of the payment in advance to clear a loan, if the vehicle is mortgaged. If not, visit the nearest RTA centre, Tasjeel or Al Shamil with your passport, Emirates ID, vehicle registration and clearance letter from the bank (if applicable). Make sure you and the buyer is present with the money as well, along with his or her passport and Emirates ID.
The transfer of ownership is simple and straightforward if you have your documents in order.
These are the documents required to transfer the ownership of vehicle, according to Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA):

• Seller’s vehicle ownership certificate and original Emirates ID or passport
• Buyer’s original Emirates ID, copy of the valid passport and residence visa for non-GCC expats
• Electronic insurance of the vehicle
• Vehicle technical inspection certificate

Where can I go?
You can go to any of the following places to transfer vehicle ownership:

How to sell used furniture in UAE?
If you want to keep the furniture, speak to a mover and packer to find out how much it will cost to ship the item. For selling, there are a few places that you can advertise:

1. Newspapers

2. Online forums - online marketplaces or social media platforms are a great place to find potential buyers.

3. Around your building - speak to the security team and find out if you can leave flyers for interested buyers to visit your home to look at the furniture. Make sure you mention the time at which you can be contacted clearly on the flyer so that you do not have unexpected visitors at odd hours.

If you wish to sell the furniture in bulk, quickly, speak to second-hand furniture shops. They will visit your home and give you an estimate for all the furniture, but be prepared to haggle as they try to offer the lowest price to maximise profits. There are several second-hand furniture shops in Dubai’s Karama area, Sharjah’s Rolla area or Abu Dhabi’s Musaffah area.

When you are closer to your leaving date, start with the remaining processes.
How to close your Bank Account in UAE?
Closing your bank account and any financial liabilities you might have is perhaps one of the most important parts of moving out of a country. Speak to your bank at least three or four months in advance to find out how long they take to issue a no-liability letter. Depending on the time provided, plan your finances so that you have a clearance letter when you are leaving the UAE.

1. Clear all the amount in your bank account, either by withdrawing it at the teller or transferring it to another bank account that will remain active.

2. Clear all your bank loans and credit card payments. Request for a no liability letter, as proof that you have no active liabilities with the bank. Speak to your bank at least three months in advance to find out how long they take to issue a no-liability letter. Depending on the time provided, plan your finances so that you have a clearance letter when you are leaving the UAE.

3. Visit a branch of your bank and request for the ‘account closing’ form. You will need to carry your passport and Emirates ID with you.

4. Processing account closure can take anywhere between one day to a week, depending on whether you have other contracts with a bank like a loan or credit card.

A statement from Emirates NBD provided the following advice on closing accounts:

Emirates NBD customers wishing to close an account will need to visit the nearest bank branch to submit an account closure request. The account closure will be carried out within two working days.

Prior to submitting the closure request, customers should ensure that any cheques they have issued have been recalled. As best practice, customers are encouraged to hand over any unused cheques and debit cards to bank staff to make sure these are destroyed. In case of any cheque issued from the account being presented for clearing after closure, the cheque will be returned citing account closed.

Customers who have their salary being transferred to the account for availing a personal loan with the bank would need to keep their account open till the loan is repaid fully. If any direct debit or standing instructions have been set up on the account, customers should take care to make alternate arrangements before carrying out the closure.

You cannot close an account until you have settled any loan you may have on it.

Cost of applying for entry permit: If your dependent is inside the UAE, applying for entry permit can cost around Dh1,800.

Once the entry permit is approved, you would need to apply for your dependents' Emirates IDs and medical fitness test.

Cost of residence visa stamping: Dh470

Approval system for Returning residents to Dubai

Dubai residents who are outside the UAE can return to the emirate by applying for approval from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai through Emirates airline.

According to a new update in Emirates airline system, Dubai resident visa holders can get approval as well as book a ticket to Dubai.

However, other visa holders from other emirates still need to get approvals through the Federal Authority of Identity and Citizenship (ICA) before traveling to the UAE.

Dubai residents outside the UAE can go to the airline website and scroll down to ‘Flying you back to Dubai’ window to start the procedure.

“If you are a Dubai resident, contact our call centre to assist with your booking and application for approval to travel or you can complete the application independently on the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA) directly. This link is only accessible outside the UAE,” the airline stated in the window.

Special approval from Indians: UAE residents stranded in India have to get specific approvals from the UAE Embassy and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) to travel from India to the Gulf country on repatriation flights. However, how to attain these travel approvals is not yet clear.
--------------------
A new system has been set up to facilitate the return of Dubai residents stranded abroad.

Residents are required to get an approval from Dubai's General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) before booking flight tickets. Click here for GDRFA online application.

Earlier, they were required to get an approval from the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship.

According to an updated list of guidelines for returning residents posted by Emirates, if the application is approved, residents will 'receive an instant response'. If the application can't be processed, you can try again later.
Residents should book their tickets only after getting the approval. 'During the booking process, you will be asked to enter your GDRFA Application Number. Please bring a copy of the approval email with you when you travel,' Emirates said on its website.

Every passenger flying to Dubai needs to fill in a health declaration form and a quarantine declaration form. Both forms need to be printed, completed and handed over to the Dubai Health Authority staff at arrival.

Procedures for returning residents:
> They must pre-book their flights through the official websites of airlines operating at Dubai airports.

> They must sign a declaration stating their commitment to bear the costs of examination and treatment in the event of contracting Covid-19.

> All arrivals must register their details on the Covid-19 DXB app.

> No PCR test is required before departure. They will need to undergo the test at Dubai airports.

> Residents must stay home until their PCR test results come out.

> They will be obliged to abide by the 14-day quarantine in case they test positive for Covid-19.

> They must comply with all precautionary measures applied in Dubai, such as wearing masks, maintaining a social distance of two metres, and washing hands regularly.
