UAE Gold Visas to individuals in art and culture

Based on Dubai Culture and Arts Authority's (Dubai Culture) nominations, individuals in culture and art can visit GDRFA-Dubai to get the UAE Gold Visa in the culture category. 

Validity: Ten years and can be extended when it expires.

The gold card is a long-term residency visa, first announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai in May 2019 for investors and businessmen. In November 2020, Sheikh Mohammed set a major expansion of the scheme to allow all doctors and PhD holders to secure the 10-year golden visa. Some scientists, big data and artificial intelligence experts will also be eligible, as will top scoring school pupils and their families, and university graduates with a GPA of 3.8.

Conditions to get UAE Gold Visa in the field of art and culture.

A long list of individuals as well as companies investing in culture and art can get the visa if they meet the terms and conditions.

The list includes: Authors, writers, designers, historic and knowledge researchers, fine arts, literary figures and others.

Criteria to apply:

Candidate must be a resident to apply

He or she mush have published books or held exhibitions in culture and art

Candidate must invest in the UAE

UAE announces citizenship for investors, medical doctors, skilled professionals, scientists and talented people

UAE announced major changes to the citizenship law, to allow for the naturalisation of foreign investors, doctors, scientists, artists and talented people and their families.

The decision specified the categories of the people who can be granted the citizenship, under certain conditions. In addition to granting the citizenship to the families- the spouse and children of this specialised and skilled segment, the law allows for them to also keep their current citizenship, which is a major change to the previous rule that doesn’t allow for dual citizenship.

Requirements

Investors: Must own a property in the UAE

Medical doctors and skilled professionals: Must be specialised in a unique scientific field that is needed by the UAE, have contributed to studies and research that have scientific value in their field, have 10 years of experience in that field in addition to a membership in a prestigious professional organisation in his field.

Scientists: Must be an active researcher in their field at a university, a research institute or the private sector, have 10 years of experience in that field, have scientific contributions- such as having won a prestigious scientific award, or having secured a significant funding for their research for 10 years, in addition to a recommendation letter from a credited scientific institute in the UAE.

Talented people:

Inventors: they must have had at least one patent certified by the UAE Ministry of Economy or any accredited relevant international body, which has a real value to the UAE economy, in addition to a recommendation letter from the UAE Ministry of Economy.

Intellectuals and artists: they must be pioneers in culture, arts and other talents with at least one international award in those talents in addition to a recommendation letter from the UAE relevant bodies.

Conditions

The new law stipulates the terms and conditions of the granting of citizenship to those talented segments, such as the oath and swearing in allegiance to the UAE, a pledge to uphold and respect the laws of the country, informing the relevant authority if they get a new citizenship or lost one.

Meanwhile, the changes also specified the rights of those who are granted the UAE citizenship under the new law, such as the right to establish and own companies in the UAE, buy and own land and real estate property in the country, in addition to any other right extend to them by the federal bodies, with the approval of the Cabinet, or by local government bodies.

The decision also said that the UAE citizenship can be stripped from those categories in such cases as the violation of the legal commitment or losing at least one of the conditions upon which a person was granted the citizenship.

Mechanism

The new law specified the citizenship process, saying that those qualified for the citizenship would be nominated through the Emirates’ rulers court, the courts of the crown princes, the executive council in an emirate or the cabinet.

The first major change to the UAE nationality law No.17 of 1972 on Nationality and Passports, represents a milestone in the Arab world, which usually restrict the naturalisation process to a very limited cases and mostly bans dual citizenship.

Vehicle registration renewal Procedures in UAE

A grace period of 30 days after the vehicle registration has expired, during which the car owner is required to renew the vehicle insurance and registration. In case the individual fails to renew the registration during the grace period, a charge of Dh35 per month is levied by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai. This is applicable even if an individual wishes to sell the car.

At the time of selling the car, the owner of a vehicle is required to pay any fines that may have been levied on the vehicle before the transfer of ownership process can be started.

The registration of a car is valid for one year in Dubai, after which vehicle owners are required to renew it.

Late renewal fines in other Emirates

Ministry of Interior (MOI), which manages vehicle licensing services in other emirates, imposes a fine of Dh10 per month.

Caught while driving a vehicle with an expired registration

If a car is driven on UAE roads, which does not have a valid registration, the violators will be fined Dh500 and four black points recorded against their licence. The vehicles will also be impounded for seven days, as per Article 25B of Road Traffic Law (driving a vehicle with expired licence).

The website will provide your vehicle expiry date.

Once you register for e-services with Abu Dhabi Police, the system will provide details of your vehicle.

What is the process?

Step 1: Apply for Auto insurance. 

You need to have a 13-month auto insurance in place before your apply for registration renewal. 

Once you pay for the auto insurance, your insurance provider will update the system and you can proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Log in to update vehicle registration online.

Depending on the emirate in which your vehicle is registered, visit the website of the authority (RTA, Abu Dhabi Police or Ministry of Interior). 

Enter your Emirates ID details, vehicle registration details and personal details.

Step 3: Make Payment using online payment method 

Step 4: Complete the process

Once you have made the payment, your registration renewal will be complete and updated on the authority's system.
