Indian passport service agency BLS relocated to new address in Abu Dhabi

BLS International, the outsourcing agency for processing Indian passports and visas relocated to a new address in Abu Dhabi.

The centre has relocated to Shams Boutik Mall, Al Reem Island. 

The centre is open from 9am to 6pm, with the last token offered by 4.30pm.

BLS International continues to offer premium lounge service at its facility located in Al Muhairi Building. Also, a new centre was opened earlier this year in the industrial area of Musaffah behind Danube Homes and Abu Dhabi Labor Court.

I am clear now from TB scars. How can I request UAE authority to lift my ban?

I was permanently banned from the UAE after tuberculosis (TB) scars were detected in my lung during the visa health screening process. I am now fully clear. How do I go about lifting this ban?

As you intend to come back to UAE, to lift the existing immigration ban on you, you may start with granting a power of attorney to your friend or relative in the UAE which is duly notarised and legalised by local authorities and attested by the UAE embassy in your home country.

It would be prudent on your part to undergo a medical examination in your home country for TB and obtain a medical fitness report from a government-approved medical centre.

Thereafter, notarise and legalise the medical fitness report, which states you have no TB-related scars or illness. Once the above is completed, you may send the attested medical fitness report and the power of attorney granted to your friend or relative who is residing in the UAE.

Finally, once your friend or relative receives the aforementioned documents, he or she needs to attest them at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the UAE.

The documents may be submitted to the ministry’s medical fitness centre, where you had undergone medical fitness tests previously. Based on the documents submitted by you, the Ministry and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners' Affairs (the ‘GDRFA’) may lift the immigration ban on you.

You may request your friend or relative to contact the Ministry and GDRFA in the emirate where your residence visa was previously rejected due to TB scars for any further queries in this regard.

Further, you may also contact a legal practitioner in the UAE if you intend to seek professional legal assistance. On the other hand, if you intend to come to UAE on employment visa, your prospective employer may guide and provide you necessary assistance.

Get residency visas for parents, relatives via DubaiNow govt app

Dubai residency services is now available on the DubaiNow app.

New services are residency services for parents, grandparents and other relatives. These are in addition to residency services for newborns, spouses and children that were launched last year.

The services will allow users to obtain residency visas easily and without having to visit service centres.

List of services: Applying for, renewing, or cancelling residency sponsorship for a spouse and children; viewing dependents’ residency visas and entry permits; tracking the status of visa applications and entry permits for residents and visitors; and requesting official travel and dependent reports from the GDRFA.

How much gold and cash can I carry to India?

According to travel guidelines by India’s Central Board Of Indirect Taxes And Customs, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, an Indian passenger who has been residing outside India for over one year can carry gold jewellery in their baggage.

If the passenger is male, the gold jewellery can be up to 20g, with a value cap of Indian rupees 50,000 (Dh2,535).

If the passenger is a woman, the gold jewellery carried in the luggage can be up to 40g, with a value cap of Rs100,000 (Dh5,070).

However, it is important to note that this cap is for those residing outside India. Additionally, the gold has to be of 22k or lower purity.

If you are an Indian tourist who was on a trip to the UAE and are returning to India, you are not allowed to carry gold jewellery in your luggage.

Can I carry gold bars or gold coins?

No, if you are on a visit to India, you cannot carry gold bars or gold coins. The allowance is only for gold jewellery, which has to be of 22k or lower purity.

However, in cases of repatriation, where an Indian national is returning to India after having lived and worked outside the country, and has filed a ‘transfer of residence’, they are allowed to bring in up to 1kg of gold, which can include gold bars or coins as well as jewellery.

In this situation, the passenger would be required to pay customs duty, on the value of gold exceeding Rs100,000. The passenger would be required to declare the gold to the Customs department, on arrival, or can fill in the declaration form before travelling, using the Custom department’s app, called ‘Atithi’, which is available for Apple and Android devices.

How much cash can I carry?

Declaration of foreign exchange or currency has to be made before the customs officers in the following cases:

a. Where the value of foreign currency notes exceeds US$5,000 (Dh18,365) or equivalent.

b. Where the aggregate value of foreign exchange including currency exceeds US$10,000 (Dh36,730) or equivalent.
